LIZARD SPEAK [BEING UPDATED]

Hey everyone! This is a writing resource for the group and all of you out there. This will grow and expand over time with new terms added quite often. Please do comment ideas, critique, et cetra. You know the drill.
JUNGLE DIALECT
Titan (tie-tahn)- A man-made machine that cuts trees or tears up earth. Turnover (turhn-over) See Yangi Kun. Yangi Kun (Yang-gee Kuhn)- An ancient term meaning new day. Now represents a modern time of year when Titans come for the first time in early spring. Also called 'Turnover'

DESERT DIALECT
Svantternokis (Suh-van-ter-no-key-ss)- The traditional term for a god or all-knowing being. The identity of this being differs from tribe to tribe, but the general meaning stays the same. Lighttime- Day Darktime- Night

FOREST DIALECT Bitter- Winter. "Bitter is coming." Cloudless- Spring. "Are you ready for the cloudless?" Riot- Summer. "Riot will bring the heat." Strewen- Fall. "Strewen is finally here." Special note: Seasons in the forest are considered an entity. For example, saying "You'd better prepare for winter" would mean "You'd better prepare for the bitter."

HOUSE DIALECT Caregivers- Owner Largetree- House Caverndip- Basement Homeplace- Forests Firestrip- Road
UNIVERSAL TERMS Eggkeepers- Universal term for a guardian, parent, or grand-parent. Could refer to a knight or simply a family member. Tribe- Family system.

WRITING STYLE

Hello once again! I just wanted to show a bit of my style, and I doubt these paragraphs will actually appear in the story, but they might. This is just an example. So, I guess, here goes! Also, don't forget to see my website in progress!: http://storywriting1.weebly.com/ 
Gila rolled on her back, her mind clouded with thoughts. For once she was glad that she went out to hunt. She let a low rumble out in the silence. Orion and the others could be such jerks sometimes! She let her thoughts wander into anger for a moment, then relaxed. I should stop... I still haven't caught anything. Gila focused on searching for small rodents and mice, and ended up finding a nice fat bird too. She walked back to camp with her prey, and dropped them in the food pile. Gila stretched out on a sunny rock and let the warm embrace of sleep cover her.

Character Segments #2

TAIGA:  The pain in her side grew stronger. It hurt.

Struggling to keep up with the rest of her tribe, she took a few steps, her beard puffing. Disease had swept the lowlands, but she hadn't expected her turn to come so soon.

Staggering forward, she let out a low poh. 

"Taiga?" The large bearded dragon near the front of the group turned his head. "Are you okay?"

The sky seemed to darken as she hit the ground.

I'll be okay. I'll be okay. I'll be... okay.

Okay.

She grinned. She was almost there.

JAKE: "SHUT UP, GILA."

Stomping his feet, flaring his nostrils, he screamed at the Komodo Dragon.

"I'M DANGEROUS, DON'T YOU DENY IT." He hissed, showing her his clipped claws.
"Jake, you're a PET lizard."

"I don't care. I'll beat you in a duel any day." He tried to outpace the huge creature.

Character Segments #1

GILA: Gila huffed under her breath. "What do you mean, I have to go hunting?" she thought. Angrily flashing her tongue, she crawled silently into the bushes outside her group's home. "I don't need to do this! I'm still a hatchling, I still have freedom!" Her tail thrashed through the grass, ripping up the strands that were still left from the winter. She would get back at her eggkeepers later.

Blinking, she took a minute to look up at the sky. She buried her head in shame.  "I didn't mean it, Svantternokis. Please forgive me." 

ORION: Rain seemed to fall endlessly. The forest floor was water-logged and made a squish sound every time someone walked by.  He hated days like this. He hated the eternal drip, drip, drip that pattered down his back. Most of all, he hated the fact that the titan had to come every year and destroy tree, after tree, after tree. He looked off the edge of his branch tiredly, the rough bark digging into his feet. Rainy season had been staying longer this year, and they wouldn't have to move trees yet. Contented, he hid himself under the one dry patch of tree left.  Drip.

Hey all! Sunspot here with another little preview of what's coming up next. This is just a sample of the type of writing that will be featured within the chapters, and will not reflect the content of the chapters themselves. Before I begin, I'd also like to point out that the actual writing style between drafts will differ dramatically and it will become more comprehensive as our editors piece them together. Now, without further hesitation, please enjoy. Orion gazed out of the treetops haphazardly. This was not good. What he saw was worse than the average predator or even the usual amount of whining, lost travelers.  The machine clanged loudly. BOOM. BOOM. BOOM. The whirring grew steadily louder.  Staring, he puffed his cheeks slightly. He wasn't expecting the titan to come so soon this year. Turing around, he quickly scrabbled around the thick tree branches. There's too much to do. Too many animals to move, too many consequences... Looking up to the summit of the tree, he licked one of his eyes clean. He had to move.  "But my family's up there," he thought. When he looked back at the toppling trees, however, he knew he had one choice. Tears welling up in his eyes, tail twitching nervously, he backed down the tree. Pushing off the edge, crawling to the very end of the small patch of rainforest that was left, he heard a crash, and didn't turn back. Well, that's it.
